Harmony Rose West

Artist's Statement:

Nature is my home. Wherever I travel, I spend time outside walking and filling my pockets with bits and pieces of the Earth. My Santa Fe studio is filled with jars and baskets of bark, stones, pods, and feathers.

For years, I've concocted pieces from bits of the Earth I've found on the ground: picking up a downed wasp nest, freeing a dead cholla stalk, gathering bark, pods, lichen, and moss... then fitting them together like a puzzle.

I call these little critters 'Nature Spirits'. Each has ito own personality. I delight in creating something new out of things that will sooner or later decompose and become soil. Nothing lasts forever. The only constant is change!
